Visit Baltra Island in the Galapagos
Small in size but big on beauty, Baltra Island in the Galapagos offers an abundance of wildlife. This island about 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador is also known as South Seymour, and it’s usually the first place that travelers arrive, due to its airport.
Known for its amazing wildlife, Baltra is just one of many Galapagos islands that offers amazing snorkeling opportunities. If you get the chance, take it — you may find yourself swimming with sea lions, tropical fish, sharks, manta rays, sea turtles, a penguins, and even iguanas!
The waters off Baltra and the area surrounding the Galagpagos Islands is a protected marine reserve. Likewise, the islands themselves are a national park under Ecuador. Check out the friendly sea lions at Devil’s Crown, a sunken volcanic crater or go bird watching and see rare birds in Baltra, such as the the prehistoric black frigate.
