Le Havre
Le Havre is a Seaside Haven
Le Havre is located where the English Channel meets the Seine River in the Upper Normandy region of France. It was heavily bombarded during WWII but rebuilt. You can see this in Centre-ville reconstruit du Havre, which was planned and designed by architect Auguste Perret. If you’re a WWII buff, Le Havre offers the memorial Place General de Gaulle.
Le Havre’s Musée des Beaux Arts André Malraux houses an impressive collection of paintings from Renoir, Matisse, Manet, Pissarro, Monet, and more. Go for a stroll through Jardins de l'Hotel de Ville to view the gardens, fountains, and sculptures if the weather is nice. Nearby, the Cathedrale Notre-Dame offers both impressive architecture and history.
If you’d to walk along the seashore, the beautiful La Plage du Havre is a prime spot, and offers plenty of cafés and restaurants.
