Important Travel Notice – Argentina

The Argentine Government has implemented a new mandatory health insurance requirement under Decree No. 366/25. Effective July 1, 2025, all foreign visitors entering Argentina must present a sworn declaration stating their purpose of travel, as well as proof of valid travel health insurance that includes medical coverage, hospitalization, and emergency evacuation. While the sworn declaration process has not yet been activated, the health insurance requirement is already in effect. Local authorities may request proof of insurance at airports, land borders, and cruise terminals.

This policy applies to MSC Cruises sailings in Argentina, including MSC Fantasia voyages scheduled between October 29, 2025 and March 23, 2026, and MSC Preziosa voyages from January 17, 2026 through March 26, 2026.

Please be aware that public hospitals in Argentina will only provide medical care to foreign visitors who possess valid insurance or who have prepaid for medical services, except in emergencies or for permanent residents. Travelers who already have qualifying travel health insurance are encouraged to carry proof of coverage at all times during their trip. Guests without a valid policy should obtain travel insurance before their cruise departure, ensuring that it meets Argentina’s mandatory coverage requirements.

For convenience, CruiseDirect offers the MSC Global Protection Plan, underwritten by Generali Global Assistance, which satisfies Argentina’s entry criteria. This plan may be added to your booking if your sailing date is more than ninety days away. To add coverage or receive assistance, please contact your CruiseDirect Travel Advisor or call 1-888-407-2784.
