The Past Meets the Future in Bangkok
Thailand’s capital Bangkok is a lively city known for mixing the modern with the historical. You’ll see an entire urban landscape as far as the eye can see, with gleaming gold temples at its base. Dazzling Bangkok nightclubs offer vibrant entertainment, enjoyed best after an amazing, aromatic meal of noodles and spices.
These ornate structures are quite beautiful; just try not to take a photo of the Grand Palace and its Wat Phra Kaew Temple. The Chao Phraya River flows past the Rattanakosin royal district and Wat Traimit Temple, which offers a huge, solid gold Buddha.
Bangkok is a shopper’s paradise; in fact, you can find one of the largest markets in the world here — the Chatuchak Weekend Market. Just about everything imaginable is on display, from vintage electronics to jewelry, clothes, toys, pets, produce, and even fake plastic fruit. If it’s sold, it’s here. And when you’re hungry, you have only to choose from a multitude of food stalls.
