Dubrovnik
Exotic Dubrovnik is a Feast for the Eyes
Dubrovnik is known as both “The Pearl of the Adriatic” as well as the site of King’s Landing from the popular HBO hit “Game of Thrones.” You can even take a tour — there are several — that visit locations you may have seen on the show. Of course, this beautiful, walled city isn’t just known for sweeping fantasy epics; the city is filled with Old World charm.
If you just wanted to sit by the Adriatic Sea, no one would blame you. But don’t miss out on exciting shops and historical Dubrovnik sites. There are tons of monasteries and palaces, such as Renaissance Sponza Palace and Gothic Rector’s Palace, which is also a history museum.
Dubrovnik is synonymous with its lovely Old Town, where those famous walls were erected in the 1500s. If you like architecture, check out baroque St. Blaise Church, Minceta Fortress, Fort Lovrijenac, or just wander the pedestrian-friendly cobblestone streets of Old Town.
